Our family practitioner, Dr. Emily Gannaway, provides routine health care (e.g., physical examinations, immunizations) and assesses and treats many different conditions, including illnesses and injuries. Because of Dr. Gannaway's philosophy of care, she is able to spend much more time with patients than M.D. practitioners generally do. Her holistic health philosophy invites her to develop relationships with patients and their families as whole persons and as part of whole family systems. This holistic way of working with patients resists the tradition of American/Western medicine where patients are often reduced to a specific complaint or set of symptoms.
Our GP, Dr. Gannaway, enjoys really getting to know her patients over time. She provides ongoing medical care to both male and female patients in all age groups and has developed specialties with infants and children, with women’s health and with hormone therapies for men and women.
If a patient develops a specific symptom that is beyond the scope of a general practitioner (i.e. broken bones, heart defects, etc.), Dr. Gannaway may refer him/her to a specialist who has additional training and expertise in the required, specific area of medicine (e.g., urology, cardiology, oncology, neurology).
