Our family practitioners, Dr. Hilary Sandell and Dr. Emily Gannaway, provide routine health care (e.g., physical examinations, immunizations) and assesses and treats many different conditions, including illnesses and injuries. Because of our doctors' philosophy of care, they are able to spend much more time with patients than M.D. practitioners generally do. Their holistic health philosophy invites them to develop relationships with patients and their families as whole persons and as part of whole family systems. This holistic way of working with patients resists the tradition of American/Western medicine where patients are often reduced to a specific complaint or set of symptoms.
Our general practitioners enjoy really getting to know their patients over time. Dr. Sandell and Dr. Gannaway provide ongoing medical care to both male and female patients in all age groups and has developed specialties with infants and children, with women’s health and with hormone therapies for men and women.
If a patient develops a specific symptom that is beyond the scope of a general practitioner (i.e. broken bones, heart defects, etc.), our doctors may refer him/her to a specialist who has additional training and expertise in the required, specific area of medicine (e.g., urology, cardiology, oncology, neurology).
